Srinagar, Feb 12 (KNO): Hundreds of contractual and daily-wage employees, joined by their families and children, staged a sit-in at Sher-e-Kashmir Park on Thursday under the banner of the Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC), demanding regularisation across Jammu and Kashmir. As per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), EJAC General Secretary Sajad Ahmad Parray, speaking at the sit-in, said the participation of children underscores the struggle’s, impact on families, especially on the education and future of the next generation. “This fight will continue until every temporary worker receives justice,” Parray told reporters, urging the government to address EJAC’s concerns before the Chief Secretary-led committee’s report on regularisation is tabled in the Assembly. Children, families raised slogans stating that their livelihoods have been affected by delays in regularisation. Notably, yesterday, Parray had called for the Prime Minister’s personal intervention and appealed to political parties and public representatives to recognise the issue as one of social responsibility. “We seek justice and dignity for our workers, not confrontation,” he said.—(KNO)
